Nintendo Wii

The Wii is a home based video game console that was released by the Nintendo Company. This was released as a seventh-generation console and this particular game console primarily is in competition with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 as released by Sony. The company Nintendo says that this particular console aims at a broader demographic area than both the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
As of 31st December 2008 the Wii successfully leads this generation and scores over the PlayStation 3 as well as the Xbox 360 as per as the worldwide sales concerned. The Wii has a very distinguishing feature and it has a wireless controller called the Wii Remote. This particular remote can be used as a handheld device to both point and detect any sort of movements in all three dimensions. Wii also has another distinctive feature that is known as the WiiConnect24. The WiiConnect24 enables the console to receive both messages as well as updates through the Internet when it’s in a particular standby mode.
The Wii happens to be the Nintendo Company’s fifth home console. This also directly succeeds the Nintendo Game Cube and through this one would be able to play all the official games released by Game Cube. The company Nintendo first spoke about the console at E3 press conference held in the year 2004. Nintendo much later unveiled the total system at the E3 conference held next year that is in 2005.
Satoru Iwata the Nintendo head late revealed a particular prototype of this controller in the month of September 2005 at the Tokyo Game Show. The next year of E3 saw the console winning the first of many awards. By the completion of the 8th December 2006 the Wii successfully completed its total launch in four major markets. The console was initially conceived way back in the year 2001 and at that point of time it was simply called the Nintendo Game Cube and as per an interview with the Nintendo Company's game designer Mr.Shigeru Miyamoto, the total concept of Wii also involved a major focus on a newer form of player interaction.
The company soon realized that a lot of powerful consoles cannot coexist. A couple of years later many engineers as well as designers were united so as to develop the whole concept and take it much further. By the year 2005, the controller interface had slowly taken form, however a particular public showing at that particular year's E3 was simply withdrawn. It was said that the Nintendo DS had influenced the Wii design and designer of the Wii Ken'ichiro Ashida added that they did have the Ds in mind and came up with a DS prototype but it was later rejected as they thought that the DS and Wii would be identical and look similar.
The console was initially known by the code name of "Revolution" and on the 27th of April 2006 it was changed immediately right before E3. This is one Nintendo Style Guide that refers to the console as Wii nothing like a "Nintendo Wii". This was something revolutionary much like its initially chosen code name as it was marketed out of Japan without the company's name featured on it.
